Death: Tyler Vaughan Snead, Resident of Augusta, has sadly passed away at 32

Augusta, GA – It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Tyler Vaughan Snead, 32, who entered into rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

A devoted husband to Kaylee Key Snead and a loving father to Violet Vaughan Snead and Eleanor Anne Snead, Tyler leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and service to his family, faith, and community.

Obituary For Tyler Vaughan Snead

Tyler was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA, who cherished his hometown’s rich history and natural beauty. Raised in the Catholic faith, he attended St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School and graduated from Aquinas High School in 2010. A proud supporter of his alma mater, Tyler often returned to cheer for and coach the Fighting Irish.

A gifted scholar, Tyler earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Augusta University. During his academic journey, he excelled as a model UN star and completed internships with Johnny Isakson and Rick Allen. His professional achievements included serving as the Executive Director of the Augusta Canal Authority, a position that perfectly aligned with his love for Augusta and its historic canal.

Tyler was deeply involved in his community, holding leadership roles in numerous organizations, including the Irish American Heritage Society, Knights of Columbus – Patrick Walsh Council, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Augusta Rugby Club. He was also a generous supporter of the Aquinas High School football program and an active member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.

Family and friends remember Tyler as a devoted father, a trusted confidant, and a family historian who meticulously preserved the stories and legacies of the Casey, Vaughan, and Snead families. His humor, kindness, and unwavering support endeared him to all who knew him.

  • Daughters: Violet Vaughan Snead and Eleanor Anne Snead
  • Parents: Derek and Terri Snead
  • Siblings: Megan Snead Goldberg (Adam) and their children, Crawford, Anna Rose, William, Mary Elizabeth, and Robert; Austin Snead; and Marshall Snead (Clare Mulherin)
  • Grandmother: Betty Snead
  • Parents-in-law: Jesse and Alpha Key
  • Aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family: Cathy and Bobby Bentley and their children, Reed Bentley (Cassidy) and their children, Casey, Lilly, and Heath; Brett and Zach Sasser and their children, Mallie and Davis; Erin and Terry McGee and their children, Matt (Kristi) and Molly; and many others.

Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pat and Sonny Casey; his grandfather, Col. Bob Snead; his beloved cousin, Casey Bentley; and his aunts, Anne and Betty Casey.
